I actually LOST weight!

Saturday: – No exercise whatsoever, other than a brief bike ride and a game of catch at the park. I did the taxes that day, OK?  And I managed to strain my shoulder a bit playing catch.

Sunday: – 30 minutes yoga.  Some biking.

Monday: – 30 minutes yoga.  LOOOOOTTTS of biking.

Today: Couldn’t sleep last night and my shoulder’s still a bit sore.  So just 25 minutes yoga.

Tomorrow: Will jump.  I promise.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO and I weigh….132 pounds.  Finally I have broken through whatever barrier I had hit.  Time for new pants, and possibly new headshots.

Today: – OMG the legs, so only 30 minutes of yoga.  Will do some biking later.

I have a theory

So I haven’t been posting lately.  This is because I have not lost ANY weight in a month.

I still weight 135-ish pounds.  And I’m still restricting my calories and exercising.

Why is this?  My theory:

– I am in better shape than I was when this magical journey began.  Therefore, I am working LESS at the exercise I am doing.   Thus I burn fewer calories in the exercise I do, and lose less weight.
– Also I suspect the IShape’s calorie count on some things.  Some are suspiciously low when compared to the actual listed numbers on packaging.  So you combine the two…

…I am eating more and burning fewer calories than I think I am.

Or else my body is just saying “GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK!!!!!!!”

Either works.

Anyway.  Today I did 35 minutes of yoga and 20 minutes of biking.  Nothing else, I had an audition today.  I think I’ll start jumping every day as well as biking, and double-checking my IShape calories.

The past few days

So on Saturday night I wanted to go out for a beer, but my IShape was telling me I was out of calories.  So what did I do?

– 20 minutes jumping (yes, that’s right)
– 30 minutes yoga

Sunday I suffered from the overindulgence, so:

– 30 minutes yoga

Monday is the super-heavy travelling day, so

– 30 minutes yoga


– 15 minutes jumping – it has gotten easier!
– 20 minutes yoga

But I still weigh 135.  No weight loss for two weeks.  Ben has a theory that I’ve lost all the “easy” weight, and my body is now building muscle.  I have to sort of cross another threshold of muscle-ness before I start to lose more weight.  I have no idea if this is plausible or not – do I look like an exercise physiologist? – but I’ll keep trying for another few weeks.  If I don’t lose any more weight by the beginning of May I’m done.

Today I still have the soreness of the hip.  And that’s not a metaphor or anything, my hip is sore.  Too much exercise.  Anyway, this is what I did:

– 20 minutes yoga (will probably do more later)
– a bit of biking: I had a make-up lesson this morning that was far enough to bike to but not convenient for transit

If it weren’t a blustery sort of day I might go for a bike ride, but…More yoga.  Jump tomorrow.

So I have decided to return to skipping in conjunction with biking everywhere, since if I burn enough calories I can occasionally drink beer and eat cake.  This is what I’ve done since Tuesday:

Tuesday: – 30 minutes yoga
– about an hour of biking

Wednesday: – 15 minutes jumping
– 20 minutes yoga
– Some biking

Thursday: – 15 minutes jumping
– 20 minutes yoga
– Close to two hours of biking, some of it quite fast because no matter what I do I’m late for everything these days

– No jumping.
– 35 minutes yoga
– Probably no biking because it’s been raining all day.

Now excuse me while I go eat some sausages…

It’s been ages! Sorry for the radio silence.  I still haven’t re-established a good work-out pattern.  I won’t try to reconstruct the past week or so, because I can’t remember exactly what I did when, but the warm weather means I’ve been biking a fair amount. So if I haven’t quite gotten into the habit of jumping, I at least have been getting some cardio.

I did make it up to 15 minutes of jumping – I think that was on Thursday – and last Monday weighed in at 135 pounds!  This Monday, though, I also weighed in at 135 pounds.  Hmm.

I think it’s time to start jumping.
